The wind in your sails is usually a dream that pushes you forward. But what happens when that dream you’ve been working towards is no longer the one that fills your sails with gusto?! I’ve been chasing a dream for over 4 years now of building a photography business that solely concentrated on intimate women’s photography,…

Very wise words. It is also very difficult to be proud of things you accomplish, since most of us keep thinking about what we didn’t accomplish, so it is really great you feel proud of your work! 🙂 That is something we have yet to learn. 🙁
I can imagine it is very discouraging if photographers compare their income like that. Especially since no one knows if it is even true what the other one says. I recently read a blog post where a photographer talked about a colleague lying about there price. He talked about making 20 000 dollars per wedding, which the other photographer knew was a lie. I think this is crazy, but the guy sure talked a nice talk to others about making tons of cash. (and maybe even made that much selling his sales talks) This gives me the creeps.
You are so right that money is just a fraction of what success is, but obviously in the end we have a business and we’ll all have to make money, since we have to eat, pay rent, live… Too bad life is not just about making art, because it would be so much more fun. Maybe one day it will be, when we’re all rich and famous. 😉
Until then we’ll try to declare our success more often.
I hope you start celebrating your successes, no matter how small or large they may be. And don’t worry about the others, karma will get them!
